While we promote progressive play and learning, allowing dogs to advance at their own pace, we do have house Rules that keep our dogs and handlers safe – and socialized.
- We welcome vaccinated dogs that are at least four months old and require dogs older than six months to be spayed or neutered. Dogs need to be free of fleas and ticks, as well as current on vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper and Bordatella (canine cough). We also require proof from a veterinarian of a negative fecal check every six months.
- It's important to us that dogs experience their first time here in an unhurried manner. During our required pre-visit, owners and their dogs interact on-site with handlers and other dogs with similar temperament. Owners are responsible for being present during the first 30 to 60 minutes, at which time we tour the grounds and introduce the daily routine of each membership level.
After that, your dog will stay and play for the day. During this time, we review personal histories and take dogs to a two-acre, fenced-in, supervised setting for socialization and exercise. Our intent is to identify levels of responsiveness and any recurring behaviors that may inform placement.
- Basic obedience is required of all dogs.
- Unlike other facilities, we do not restrict breeds from membership. Our handlers personally know each dog, and we take seriously the responsibility of determining which dogs socialize with each other. Untrained dogs require training prior to membership acceptance.
- The safest way to exercise and socialize dogs is to place them with peers who speak the same language. Rather than group dogs by breed, age or size, we respectfully create packs according to reliability and temperament.
